Dan is part of a team training government officials from Small Island States around the world on the science, management, policy and finance of blue carbon, in conjunction with the National University of Singapore Sustainability Academy

Bella has spent the last month working with colleagues at Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, where she has been undertaking community meetings and interviews to understand local uses of mangrove resources.

Luke, Bella and Dan just finished an assessment of greenhouse gas fluxes from soils and trees for two Department of Defense installations in Florida, as part of a larger collaborative project funded by SERDP. The full mangrove carbon budget is being assessed with collaborators from the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, US Geological Survey and US Fish and Wildlife Service. Results coming soon!

Zoë has spent the last 4 weeks in Baja California Sur, Mexico, collecting greenhouse gas flux data from arid zone mangroves, in collaboration with WILDCOAST/COSTASALVAJE and Las Guardianas del Conchalito.

Dr. Gabriela Reyes is starting a 2 year postdoc position in the Mangrove Lab, support by the Smith Foundation! Bella joins us from her PhD at the University of Florida. She'll be working on carbon and community use of mangroves in Puerto Rico. Welcome Bella!
